We are so excited to celebrate with you in San Miguel de Allende! Getting here is very manageable with a bit of planning. Start by choosing an airport, then see the options for getting from the airport to San Miguel.

Your Airport Options at a Glance

Querétaro (QRO): ~60-75 minutes by car to San Miguel. Best option.

León / Bajío (BJX): ~90-100 minutes by car to San Miguel. Best option.

Mexico City (MEX): ~3-4 hours by car to San Miguel. A good backup, but ground transportation costs more.

Option 1 (Best): Fly Direct or One US Stop to Querétaro (QRO) or León (BJX)

The easiest way to reach San Miguel is to fly directly (or with a US connection) into one of the two nearby airports. If you can find a direct or 1-stop flight into either, this is by far the simplest and most seamless option.

Important notes

- Flights to QRO and BJX from the US are limited. We recommend booking as early as possible to guarantee availability.

- We recommend connecting through the U.S., not within Mexico. While some itineraries may route you through Mexico City before continuing to Querétaro, this requires clearing immigration and customs in Mexico City, collecting and re-checking your bags, and going back through security.

- In most cases, this adds time and complexity without any real benefit. If you are connecting, aim for a U.S. connection into QRO or BJX.

Option 2: Fly to Mexico City (MEX)

If flights into QRO or BJX are limited or expensive, a great backup option is to fly directly into Mexico City (CDMX / MEX). It is ~3-4 hours by car to San Miguel.

This option works especially well if:

- You’re coming from a major U.S. city with nonstop service to Mexico City

- You prefer more flight flexibility or better flight pricing (ground transportation from Mexico City costs more than from QRO or BJX; see Step 3)

We recommend arranging a private transfer, shared shuttle, or bus rather than booking a connecting flight within Mexico.

If You’re Flying into QRO or BJX

Taxi or Uber is the easiest way. Both are readily available at QRO and BJX and cost roughly $80-100 to San Miguel (~60-75 minutes from QRO, ~90-100 minutes from BJX).

Prefer to book ahead? Private transfers and shared shuttles are also available from both airports.

ETISAGTO offers private cars (about $125 USD for up to 4 passengers) and vans for larger groups, and

BajioGo offers shared shuttles (about $34 USD per person, one way). Contact details are in the Mexico City section below.

If You’re Flying into Mexico City (MEX)

Ground transportation from Mexico City costs more and takes longer (~3-4 hours), so we recommend booking in advance. You have three options. Prices are one way and approximate, in USD.

Private car: ~$365 per vehicle (up to 4 passengers). Larger vans available.

Shared shuttle: ~$120 per person. Best for 1-2 travelers; a private car costs about the same or less per person for 3-4.

Bus: ~$45-60 per person. The lowest-cost option.

Private Transfer: ETISAGTO

For private transfers, we recommend ETISAGTO, a local transportation service shared by our wedding planners. You can also submit your flight details to receive an individual transportation quote. ETISAGTO also serves QRO and BJX; contact them for rates from those airports.

2027 rates: Mexico City (MEX) to San Miguel de Allende

Rates are per vehicle, one way (not per person), so please remember to book your return trip to the airport as well.

Car (up to 4 passengers): ~$365 USD ($6,700 MXN)

Mini Van (up to 6): ~$435 USD ($8,000 MXN)

Van (up to 11): ~$555 USD ($10,200 MXN)

Big Van (up to 20): ~$840 USD ($15,500 MXN)

Shared Shuttle: BajioGo

BajioGo is a local airport shuttle service. Shared service pairs you with other passengers arriving around the same time as you, and drops you at your hotel or address in San Miguel.

Mexico City (MEX) to San Miguel: $120 USD per person, one way (~4 hours)

QRO or BJX to San Miguel: $34 USD per person, one way (~1 hour 30 minutes)

Bus from Mexico City

First-class buses run between Mexico City’s Terminal Norte (Terminal Central de Autobuses del Norte) and the San Miguel Central Bus Station in about 4 hours. Primera Plus and ETN are the main operators. Fares are roughly $45-60 USD per person, one way.

Buses do not leave from the airport. You’ll need a taxi or Uber from the airport to Terminal Norte.

Primera Plus departures run from about 7:15 AM to 5:00 PM, so late arrivals may need a different option.
