Our Wedding

Lucia and Bill's love story began in the halls of the University of Michigan in 2019, where they found themselves sharing classes and running in similar circles. While the connection was there from the start, it took a little persistence on Bill's part—after asking Lucia out three times, she finally said yes on October 18th, 2019. Sometimes the best things are worth waiting for. What started as a college romance deepened in ways they never expected during the unprecedented spring of 2020. When the world shut down and everything became uncertain, they found certainty in each other. Bill spent a month in Arizona with Lucia's family that summer, which solidified something special between them. After graduation, they faced their biggest challenge yet: maintaining their relationship across the country. Lucia moved to Seattle while Bill headed to New York City. For a year, FaceTime calls, cross-country flights, and careful planning became part of everyday life. In the summer of 2022, Bill made the move to Seattle, closing the distance and opening the door to the next chapter together. Living in the same city again allowed their relationship to flourish in new ways as they built a life together, exploring the Pacific Northwest and growing stronger with each shared experience. All of this led them to Maui, where against the backdrop of paradise, they took the next step in their journey together. From college sweethearts to engaged couple, their story has been one of patience, persistence, and choosing each other through every chapter. They can't wait to celebrate this next adventure with all of you!

How to Get There

We are so excited to celebrate with you in San Miguel de Allende! Getting there is very manageable with a bit of planning—here are the best ways to make your trip as smooth as possible. --- Option 1 (Best): Fly Direct or One US Stop to Querétaro or León The easiest way to reach San Miguel is to fly directly (or with a US connection) into one of the two nearby airports: - Querétaro (QRO) - ~60-75 minutes by car to SMA- León / Bajío (BJX) – ~90-100 minutes by car to SMA Transportation options:- Taxi/Uber (readily available)- Private car service (recommended for comfort and ease) If you can find a direct or 1-stop flight into either airport, this is by far the simplest and most seamless option. Important Notes: Flights to QRO and BJX from the US are limited. We recommend booking as early as possible to guarantee availability. We recommend connecting through the U.S., not within Mexico. While some itineraries may route you through Mexico City before continuing to Querétaro, this requires:- Clearing immigration and customs in Mexico City- Collecting and re-checking your bags- Going back through security In most cases, this adds time and complexity without any real benefit. If you are connecting, aim for a U.S. connection into QRO or BJX. --- Option 2: Fly to Mexico City (CDMX) + Private Transfer If flights into QRO or BJX are limited or expensive, a great backup option is to fly directly into Mexico City (CDMX / MEX). Getting to San Miguel~3-4 hours by car- Private drivers (most popular and comfortable)- Shared shuttle or van services This option works especially well if:- You’re coming from a major U.S. city with nonstop service to Mexico City- You prefer more flight flexibility or better pricing We recommend arranging a private transfer or shared van rather than booking a connecting flight within Mexico. --- Need Help? We are so thrilled that you'll be joining us in San Miguel de Allende! To make your planning a little easier, we’ve gathered a few hotel recommendations that are all in or near the historic center of town. We aren't doing a formal room block, so feel free to choose the spot that’s best for you. There are plenty of additional options that we haven’t listed as well! If you are traveling with a large group a VRBO/Airbnb might be more cost effective! San Miguel is a city for walking, but be prepared for lots of charming (and sometimes steep!) cobblestone streets. No matter where you stay, we recommend packing comfortable shoes!

Splurge a Little

It feels like a grand colonial estate, and its famous Luna Rooftop Bar has what we think are some of the best sunset views in the city. (10-12 minute walk to city center) <a href="https://www.fiestamericanatravelty.com/en/live-aqua/hotels/live-aqua-san-miguel-de-allende" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Live Aqua Urban Resort</a>: If you love modern design and a vibrant, artistic vibe, this is the place. It's a chic and sensory experience, complete with a fantastic spa and pool scene. (12-15 minute walk to city center) <a href="https://www.amatte.com.mx/en/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Amatte Wellnest Community</a>: For a peaceful and restorative escape, Amatte is a beautiful wellness-focused hotel perched just above the city. It's serene, sophisticated, and has incredible panoramic views. (10-12 minute walk to city center)

A great spot to relax after a day of exploring. Also a part of the Marriott collection. If you want to be just steps from the action, this is an excellent and convenient choice. As the name suggests, it’s a practical and comfortable home base, perfect if your main goal is to be out and about exploring. (5-7 minute walk to city center) <a href="https://www.ilorojohotel.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ilo Rojo Hotel Boutique</a>: This hotel delivers big style in a small, friendly package. We love the chic decor and personal feel—it's a high-design experience at a very accessible price. (10-12 minute walk to city center)

WELCOME EVENT DRESS CODE -  COCKTAIL / GARDEN

We encourage guests to wear ALL WHITE for the welcome event — yes, really. Think cocktail dresses, linen separates, light blazers, summer suits, and polished dress shoes. Aim for garden-cocktail: elegant but comfortable for an outdoor evening in San Miguel. You may want to bring a light layer for when the sun goes down.

WEDDING DRESS CODE -  BLACK TIE OPTIONAL

We invite guests to dress in formal wedding attire—black tie optional. Suggested looks: tuxedos or dark suits (black, navy, gray) and floor-length gowns. San Miguel evenings can cool down, so consider bringing a light wrap or jacket.
